Security FAQs

Responses are provided by the HOA Security Committee.

1. What are the daily hours that a security officer is on duty at CCMD?

Answer: Seven days a week starting at 5:30 p.m. and ending as late as 3:30 a.m.

2. Why isn’t a security officer always in the gatehouse?

Answer: In order to provide random security patrols throughout the residential areas of CCMD, the beginning time of the first patrol will vary from day to day. The guard will be in the guard house from 5:30 p.m. each day and roving times will vary so that a pattern is not set. The first patrol will begin sometime between 5:30 and 8 p.m.

3. Why doesn’t security block part of Country Club Blvd. at the gate house and stop vehicles entering to find out who they are and where they’re going?

Answer: Country Club Blvd is a public street. Blocking it and stopping vehicles at the gate would be the same as doing that on any other public street. Such action by the security officers would not be legal.

4. Why doesn’t security do anything about loud vehicles, speeders, or vehicles that run stop signs within CCMD?

Answer: Those are traffic violations and must be reported to the Mount Dora Police Department by the residents for any action to be taken.

5. Why won’t security officers call Mount Dora Police Department when a resident makes a complaint about a perceived violation?

Answer: The Mount Dora Police Department doesn’t want third party complaints from security officers. They require the residents to call and complain themselves.

6. Why do security officers bother me about my garage door being open?

Answer: The security officers remind residents about their garage doors being open as matter of safety and security, and this is a service requested and desired by many residents. Even during daylight hours, many thefts are crimes of opportunity encouraged by open garage doors with valuables in plain sight.

Most important of all, statistics have shown that in over 85% of all violent home invasions the perpetrators have gained entry into the homes through an open garage door.
