COMMITTEE REPORTS
Greens: Dick Sowers filling in for Stan Burton called the meeting to order at 2:00 PM. Pat was congratulated on no recent oil spills. The mower hoses are being inspected each time it is used. It was mentioned that there are many weeds on the right side of #8 ladies tee box. Pat was asked if the Spanish moss on the trees on the right side of #11 green could kill the trees. The reply was it could. There are agencies that would remove the moss for resale. Bill Martin said he would look into contacting one of these agencies. Sam Floyd complemented Pat on the good condition of the greens. He showed a photo of # 11 green taken last year showing the vast improvement. Pat reported the aerifaction was going well and suggested the members be patient with filling of the aerification holes in order to avoid excess sand pilling on the ball when putting on damp greens, The greens will be lightly sanded over several days. Bill Martin reported play was improved in March and April after a slow prior two months. The Police/Fireman's tourney was very successful exceeding the Club's cart capabilities. He also stressed the need of more golfing memberships. He stated we now have a reduced 6 month summer rate. Jack Riley said his group was studying creating gold tees for men as the whites are now too long for some. The senior men's group is going to work with them. We would like the course measured and a slope and handicap be provided for this. After the plan is finalized we would like a new score card with a fourth line for the gold tees printed. Jack noted the distance on several holes is off and should be re-measured. Bill Martin stated that the course was going to be rerated and this is a good time to incorporate such changes. The handicap flags were discussed and it was decided that a specified flag will be stocked in the Pro Shop. As a person is approved for a handicap flag, he/she will purchase one from the CCMD Pro Shop. Bill Martin stated that once the flags are selected and consequences for first, second, and third violations are established, the rules for carts will be enforced. This will be discussed at the July 6th Greens Committee meeting.
Golf: All tournaments have been scheduled. See Pro Shop for details.
House: Bill reported that all surfaces in the lounge will be painted in the near future. The dining areas are
getting a little tired also.
Food: Wednesday night dinners have great food, service, and have been having great attendance. Some concern was expressed that the Thursday night dinners were a little inconsistent and hamburgers were being removed from the menu. Bill said he will work with Dane on this.
Tennis: All is well with the tennis courts. Fifteen couples have reported interest in pickle ball. There is some concern about taping one of the courts for pickle ball because it may be too temporary and create an irregular surface for tennis. Dennis will work with the Keplers and Bill Martin to come up with a solution.
Pool: The hot tub is at 101 degrees and the pool is at 84. Bill Martin says it is being cleaned every day and an outside maintenance person comes in 3 times per week. The faulty pool heaters will be replaced this fall.
OLD BUSINESS
Bill reports that the pool is being checked 3 times per day for non-member use. New member program: The Club has created flyers that are available at the Chamber of Commerce. The HOA has been approached. The Club states it has done everything short of knocking on resident's doors to obtain participation and members. One of the problems is non-member residents playing in the evening without paying. The Club is considering an after-hours survey of the course. It will be determined if the company that offered to display golf carts and the prize of a cart for a hole-in-one will fit with the next men's golf event. The Club states that it can't yet afford to pay part of the fee to use the HOA Security Guard to monitor its facilities after hours.
NEW BUSINESS
Pat Murphy is working on a solution for the high and low replacement cup areas on the greens. A solution is to have some fill sand for the person moving the pins (greens mower). How best to attach a bucket of sand on the greens mower is under investigation. The next meeting of the Members Committee will be Friday, September 10, 2010 at 3 PM. There being no further business, a motion made by Dennis and seconded by Bill to adjourn the meeting was passed. The meeting was adjourned at 4:35 PM.
