ALERT! Saturday/Sunday Jan. 9-10 freeze has caused damage to many irrigation back flow valves in our community. Some valves froze overnight, and with the thaw this afternoon, cracked valves are spewing water onto the ground. The irrigation back flow valve is the vertical section of plastic pipe adjacent to your house that rises to about 4 feet. If found leaking, shut the valve on the vertical section of pipe at the top to stop the flow. In the shut position, this valve stops water flow to the irrigation system. The homeowner should arrange for repair to damaged irrigation back flow piping in the near future to provide irrigation to their lawn.
