Highlights of June 26 Board of Directors Meeting

  1. The Board approved changes to the By-Laws that had previously been distributed to members. One minor change was made.
  2. A new "Collection of Delinquent Assessments" Policy was approved. It will be posted under "Documents" on the HOA website, replacing a 2005 policy.
  3. The Board approved the "Uniform Yard Maintenance Committee" as a standing committee reporting directly to the Board. It has previously been a sub-committee of the Grounds Committee. Property Manager Don Martin's weekly schedule will be extended by four hours to administer the contract.
  4. The Burton Park Ad Hoc Advisory Committee reported that the park is "essentially complete." It reported that about 75 people attended the May 24 grand opening, at which Stan Burton reviewed the history of the park. Baby swings and a donor recognition sign are yet to be installed.
  5. The 2008 Annual meeting will again be held at the Mount Dora Home and Bible School. It will be on Wednesday, December 10.
  6. A ceremony before the meeting recognized those volunteer residents who attended CPR/AED training sponsored by the HOA. Mount Dora Fire Chief Ronald Snowberger spoke. Lead instructor/coordinator Mike Hislop presented American Heart Association healthcare provider cards to residents who completed the training course. It was announced during the meeting that the AED is being carried by security offficers during their nightly patrols.
  7. The Board accepted the Reserve study prepared by a contractor.
  8. Wall-mounted flood lights have been mounted outside the Community Center. Other recently-installed security features incude blinds on the front door and push-button locks.
  9. The next Board meeting will be on Thursday, August 28. There will not be a July meeting.
